Go For A Walk
This is what I was doing yesterday to distract myself from the election stress. Now that we know the results maybe it’s time to do the same.
Go for a walk.
Turn off your phone. Resist the urge to listen to music, a podcast, or any voices that aren’t your own.
Breathe.
By all means be angry. You have every right to be angry. Or afraid, or anything else you’re feeling. But take a cue from the flight safety instructions we all too often ignore: put on your oxygen mask first.
Then you can figure out how to deal with the situation at hand. Things are not okay. It is going to take a lot of hard work to get them to be okay again. Take a moment today. Tend to yourself first so that you will be able to help others.
Go outside.
And breathe.
