on choosing your weapon...
I was wondering what camera do you use? I’ve always wanted a SLR camera, but I don’t know a lot about them.

I currently use a Nikon D2X, previous to that I was using a Nikon F801, the first one I owned was a Nikon FE2 and the first SLR I learned to use was the original Nikon F.
If you’re looking at getting into a SLR system, make sure to do your research. Picking out your camera isn’t about what’s the fanciest or has the newest features, it’s about buying what you need. I have a D2X because I’m a professional and I needed something really rugged and reliable, and at the time that was the best they had. But I’ve also recommended a lot of other SLRs to friends of mine who just wanted something to start out on, or to have fun with.
I’m a Nikon girl all the way, but I’ve always been one. Both of my parents owned Nikon SLR systems before I was born, and I think my first point & shoot camera was a Nikon. It would have been silly for me to one day wake up and decide to go Canon when everything I owned was already in the Nikon family. It’s not to say that Canon isn’t good as well, but it ultimately comes down to what is the best fit for the person.
Do your research first, and I’d even recommend going to your local photography rental store and renting the camera and lenses you intend to buy. Here in Vancouver I’d recommend Beau Photo on 6th & Granville, in other cities just find out where the Pros get their rentals from.
Good luck!
